Add a material

The aim of a survey is to collect information that requires physical observation, and to mark physical objects with QR codes if relevant.

Other details in the material registration form can be edited and maintained later.

YOU MUST CREATE A LOCATION
BEFORE YOU CAN ADD A MATERIAL TO IT!

  • All materials must belong to a specific location and floor. (The concept of a floor is flexible - a storage location can be structured with Shelves and Zones instead of traditional Floors.)
  • The location must be created before a material can be added or ordered to it.

To add a material, go to “Inventory” via the main menu and click “Add material”.

Data fields in the registration form are mandatory unless specifically marked as “optional”.

Once you have filled out relevant information, click "Add material" at the bottom of the form.

You can then choose to view the material details, add it directly to the marketplace, add a new material or scan QR codes for some or all of the items you just added:

Note: The QR scanner is only available if the organization's subscription includes it:

Once saved, your materials are displayed as what we call ‘material cards’ on the Inventory page:

Numbers on material cards are visible if you hover your cursor (laptop browsers) or tap material cards (tablet / phone browsers). The different icons and colors mean the following:

  • Green: number of items in your inventory
  • Yellow: number of items listed on the marketplace, that are not ordered
  • Purple: number of items that have been ordered, but not delivered yet

The Inventory menu displays all digital material cards registered in the organization.

The marketplace listing cards only displays the number of items that have been shared.

  • In practical terms:
Unlisted items are things that are in active use at the moment.

Do you wish to add more identical items to an existing material card?
