How does the External Marketplace work?
What is the external marketplace in Loopfront and how does it work for reuse between organizations?
The Marketplace in Loopfront is divided into an Internal Marketplace and an External Marketplace:
- The Internal Marketplace is visible and accessible only for participants (users) you have invited into your ecosystem.
- The External Marketplace is visible and accessible for all ecosystems (organizations) in the Loopfront platform. On Loopfront's website, listings on the External Marketplace are visible to everyone (also outside the platform) on The Loopfront Marketplace. To see more information about the listings and to be able to place orders, one must register as an organization.
Note: The external marketplace is currently only available for organizations in Norway.
Turn on external marketplace and control role access
Check if you have the External Marketplace turned on as a function in your system:
If you are an Admin in your organization, go to the organization settings page (https://loopfront.app/no/settings) and click on the "features" tab. Here you will see a button for enabling the external marketplace function in your system, which is green when enabled.

Under organization settings and role settings, the administrator can also control which user roles in the organization will have access to view, list, and order via the external marketplace:
Where to find the external marketplace
You will find both the internal and external marketplaces under "Marketplace" in the menu.

You can see which marketplace you are currently viewing at the top of the page, indicated by the green symbol next to "Internal" or "External". By clicking on either "Internal" or "External" you can turn on and off which marketplace you want to see listings from. You can also click on both to show both internal and external listings. You can also click on both to show both internal and external marketplace listings.
By hovering over the listings, you can differentiate between internal and external listings. Look for the following symbols:

Create listings on internal and /or external marketplace
If you have access to the External marketplace, the following options are available when you add listings to the marketplace:

Selection will give the following outcomes:
- Only Internal = The listing will only be visible to participants in your ecosystem (organization account)
- Only External = The listing will only be visible outside your organizations and can only be ordered by organizations that have connected their ecosystem to the external marketplace.
- Both Internal and External = The listing will be visible both to users in your organizational system, as well as on the external marketplace on Loopfront's website, but can only be ordered by organizations that have access to the external marketplace.
The same options apply when you navigate the Marketplace and use filters.
If you have internal listings that you also want to make visible on the external marketplace, you can easily update which marketplace your listings should be shown on.
The processes of ordering products from, publishing listings to, and handling orders received from other organizations connected to the external marketplace are the same as for the internal marketplace. Have a look at the following Knowledge Base articles if you are unsure how these processes work:
