Internal storehouse as a hub

This is the ABC on how to make a success when operating a digitalized storage facility.

Today's design of Loopfront fits very well with the operation of and collaborative interactions typical for a storage facility (storehouse). All categories of Loopfront are relevant for all types of assets and company belongings, such as furniture, IT equipment, decorations and other inventory assets, building materials, outdoor materials, and fixed inventory. With Loopfront you can digitalize and keep a daily overview of what's at the facility, and you can invite internal and external stakeholders to remotely order and ask for available products. Even better, the operations can easily be performed with social sustainability such as work training and inclusion.

Use case:
Internal storage as a hub
Recommended goals (KPI):
  • X surveyed materials are ordered and reused before 2025.
  • The average storage time for available materials is X weeks or months.
Key players:
Internal (and external) stakeholders, storage management
Needed locations: 2-400 (depending on the number of stakeholders and relevant buildings for orders. Locations where stakeholders belong may differ.)

Success cases in Loopfront:

Others mid-project:

  • Asker Municipality
  • Bergen Municipality
  • Haukeland University Hospital (Helse Bergen Hospital Trust)
  • Mustad Eiendom
  • Stavanger Municipality
  • University in Bergen
  • Vestre Viken Hospital Trust
  • Östersunds Municipality

Steps to success:

  1. make sure you have a facility where materials can be stored
  2. delegate responsibility for the storehouse and its related activities either with internal or external resources (man-hours)
    • Many tasks in an operational warehouse are well-suited for social work training. Consider applying this.
  3. start filling the facility (if not already filled) with materials
  4. Invite the storehouse team to Loopfront. Give the access level that suits each team member
    • We recommend using the "member" role for those that will register materials and handle orders.
    • We recommend using the "administrator" role for those that will handle user administration (invitations, access control)
  5. digitalize materials in Loopfront by adding them to Inventory
    • QR codes can be used advantageously to enable several loops in your product's lifetime.
  6. start to make the warehouse materials available for ordering by adding them to Marketplace
  7. give access to as many internal buyers/consumers as possible
    • Internal purchasers with purchase rights are key players here.
    • We recommend using the "buyer" role for those that will be ordering, reserving, or buying materials from the warehouse.
  8. set rules internally that everyone with purchase rights checks Loopfront first
    • If applicable, also open for the collecting of materials at the purchaser's location to ensure high circulation speed and reduce the need for purchasing by using what you already have
  9. Everything is set and ready. Let the games begin...
